It is not an exaggeration to say that the state is deserving of its name, as it has many forts, beautifully painted havelis, camel dunes, and lake palaces. All these attractions are present there, and you can see them yourself.
- In a standard Rajasthan tour packages, four cities are covered. As a rule, tourists begin their tours in Jaipur. Visiting Amber Fort, Hawa Mahal, City Palace, and Johari Bazaar will take you a couple of days.
- Further comes a visit to Jodhpur where you will be able to see Mehrangarh Fort which is located on top of a 125-meter-high rocky ridge. Blue-colored houses under the fort walls look good at the morning.
- Jaisalmer will seem very unusual to you as this city is unique in many ways: it is still inhabited, has no electricity and the inhabitants live in the fort. Sam Sand Dunes are located near the city and provide access to Thar Desert.
- Udaipur is considered the highlight of the tour. It is a city built on lakes and is very picturesque. Lake Palace is situated on Pichola Lake and makes Udaipur one of the most photogenic cities in Rajasthan and even in Asia.
As usual, tours cover seven to ten days. Seven-day tours allow seeing Jaipur, Jodhpur, and Jaisalmer. Ten days will be enough to see also Udaipur and probably Pushkar. The most comprehensive tour lasts for two weeks and involves visiting Bikaner and Ranthambore.
For your trip to Jaisalmer, the best period is October-March. The weather conditions in these months vary from 10°C to 25°C; nights in December can be cold. From May, the heat becomes unbearable for traveling.
The preferable transport type in the state is a personal car with a driver. Roads are quite comfortable, the schedule is flexible, and journeys to Jaisalmer look very picturesque. Tourists also have the opportunity to travel by train, for example, to Jaisalmer. Overnight trains are available between Jodhpur and Jaisalmer.
